We would like to be able to register users for Active.com events on our own site. I read the following in the API for Resources API:
"active.com is host to a registration engine through which Event Directors create events, such as marathons or 10ks, and participants sign up for them. "
does this mean we can use the API to register our users for events?

Unfortunately not at this time. None of our public APIs support the writing of data...yet. Registration will have to be done through our web pages.

Would it be ok for us to use something like cURL to POST data to your forms behind the scenes? we would essentially present the same exact fields to our users on our end, and then just handle the registration behind the scenes

Good question. Let me shop this idea around internally and get back to you. There may be a few technical "GOTCHAs" with this approach.

thanks a bunch!
our intentions are nothing but noble, we're not trying to hide active.com in any way at all, we just want to make the experience friendlier for our users and be able to handle 'registration' on our end while at the same time facilitating the sign-up for the active event in one shot so we don't make them jump through multiple hoops to get it all done

I'm still checking around with the business. Keep in mind you'll be proxying personal details including credit card information with this setup. If this is approved, we'll have to make sure everything on your end is PCI-compliant. Stay tuned.

Cool. I'd like to setup a quick meeting with you and one of our GMs to discuss your business strategy. I have your email address on file. How about I propose a time this week (via email) and we go from there?
