Pretty sure their API is doing the muddling, seeing the same thing here.

Toby & Ben,
I'm Nathaniel Barnes, one of the architects for Active. Our data system has a concept of parent activities and child activities. For example, the "La Jolla Marathon" likely has both a Marathon and a Half-Marathon. Thus we have a parent activity with a name of "La Jolla Marathon" which has children named "Marathon" and "Half Marathon".
If you pass the parameter "exclude_children=true" to the API it should only return the parent activities (this is what we actually do on active.com).
Let me know if that helps, or if you have any more questions! Thanks!
We are getting event names coming up like: Running-50K - Individual when it should say: Bulldog Runs
Or they are mudied up like: Running-Moon Jogger Challenge - FULL PACKAGE instead of "Moon Jogger Challenge"
What are we doing wrong?
Btw, emails to my tech contact (jarred.doss@activenetwork.com) and the generic developer.support@activenetwork.com email contact are bouncing.
