I'm having an issue finding some listed events through the active API. Are there some events intended to be excluded from the API listing? Or are all events listed on active.com supposed to show up through the API?
Is this an issue with the API? I feel all races should be listed from the API, this is just one example of an event that is missing. I have noticed this more than once. I need to make affiliate links for all races.

I have also found some events to be missing. Though I don't have an example handy.

Mary, I see you have a tantracking link for the Daytona 5k on your site. Do you use the same Search API to get that one?
I have a few more examples here, these races are listed on Active.com, but I can't find them from the Search API. I'm listing races in Florida, and these guys don't show up.
These are just two more examples, and I'm running into more and more each day. I'm glad to see someone has noticed the same thing. I wasn't sure if my API query was wrong.

Dustin - can you give me the date of those events? Then I can check if they show up when I use the Search API.
We find a lot of Active Registration events by accident, when visiting the race's website, or by doing a Google search for a race name.
I stumbled across it by doing a Google Search for Clarksville Half Marathon.

The Daytona 5k is on Jan 28, 2012 in FL. I see 9 races listed on the 28th in FL (via the Search API), but none of them is the Daytona 5k. I saw you had a tantracking link for the race on your site, that's why I was asking if it showed up for you in the Search API. You say that the TN race (Clarksville half) doesn't show up for you in the API, but you have a tantracking link there. How did you get that link if it's not in the Search API?
That is the problem I'm trying to fix. I see the race listed on active.com, but sometimes it doesn't show up in the Search API listing. The main reason I use the Search API is to get the affiliate tantracking link for registration. So I'm wondering how you have a tantracking link of a race that doesn't show up in your API call.
The other two races I mentioned (both in FL too):
Tioga Town Center - Run for Haven - March 17, 2012 and
Gulf Coast Half Marathon - April 15, 2012
All of these examples are open for registration on active.com, but don't show up in the Search API for me (so I can't get affiliate tantracking links for them).

None of those 3 you mention show up in my API search. (Daytona 5K, Tioga Town Center, Gulf Coast Half)

Mary, Thank you for checking.
But how did you get a tantracking link for the Clarksville Half, if it didn't show up in the search API results?

we must have found the link on their website, and 'converted' it to our tantracking link. There is a pattern between the active.com link and the tantracking.com link. Once upon a time, I figured it out, and wrote code that converts them for us.

To Active:
About this issue, I've noticed a correlation between all of this races we give as examples here. All these races that are missing from the Search API are missing race times on the active.com pages.
All the races that show up in the Search API have time associated with them (ex: Saturday, February 25, 2012 @ 8:00 AM).
These examples we've shown, show up on active.com, but don't have times assocatied with them. I believe this is why they are not showing up in the Search API.
Can you please show all the events (even without times) in the Search API results? Or please get times associated with all events so they will show up in the Search API results.
We need these kinds of things fixed, please.

Hi Dustin,
We have two Search endpoints, "/search", which is advertised to all developers and affiliates and returns only URLs that participate in our affiliate program, and "/search-all" which returns all URLs.
If you utilize the Search ALL enpoint you will get all our data but won't recieve credit for all referrals, simply substitute "/search" with "/search-all" in his configuration. We are working on adding the affiliate program to as many listings as possible as I had previously posted. Until then if you utilize the affilaite search endpoint you will have a limited result set.
Thanks,
Jessica

Jessica,
We are only interested in the affiliate links really. Do you think the races I talked about here are supposed to be missing from the affiliate program, or do you think it has something to do with a race time missing from the even information?
Like I said previously, the ones that we have noticed missing from the search API don't have times listed on the active.com listing. I would just like to be clear on the reason they are missing. It would be nice if times were added to these events too, and I think that would help them show up in the search API (I'm just guessing).

Jessica,
I am finding SO many listings are missing, that do have Active registration. (I did notice that we stopped seeing events that do not have Active registration, but the ones I am talking about here have Active registration.) I have been finding them by visiting the event's web page, seeing the Active link there, and then I go to the search API, and the event DOES NOT SHOW UP.
We are seeing about 1/4 of the number of events that we used to see in the API. This will severely limit our ability to add Active registration links to our listing. Adding them using the API feed goes so much faster. Visiting each event's website and looking for an Active link is extremely time consuming.

I changed it from 'search' to 'search-all', and I am getting about double the amount of listings now. It appears to be working.
Thanks.

Hello Mary and Dustin,
At this point these are the options that are available, utilizing the Search ALl end point to recevie all listings, which may include listings that are not currently a part of the affiliate program; or utilizing the /Search endpoint which is the affiliate endpoint which only includes listings that are a part of the affiliate program. As previously stated we are working on adding as many listings back to the affiliate end point and will let everyone know as differnt groupings are added.
Thank you

I am using the /Search-All option, and I am getting more events than I was before, but I am still finding things are missing.
There are others as well, but hoping 1 example will allow you to troubleshoot it.

Mary, this is another great example of a race that does not have a time associated with it, not showing up in the Search API. All of my examples are missing a start time. I think this is the issue here, personally. If these races had a start time, I think they would show up in the Search API.
Active, please look into this. I think this is an issue on your side. I don't think its a matter of not being a part of the affiliate program.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for posting a specific event. We had our development team look into this and apparently The example event - Waugoshance Trail Marathon - has a start date of 7/13/2012. In your query, you are stating a start date of 7/14/2012. Therefore, we wouldn't expect this asset to appear in the results. We would need other assets that you expect to appear to investigate why they are not appearing. Can you please send another example along?
Also I have notified the team of the cutting words off issue on this forum and I hope to have that fixed soon.
I'm having an issue finding some listed events through the active API. Are there some events intended to be excluded from the API listing? Or are all events listed on active.com supposed to show up through the API?
Here is an example. I am interested in only running events in the state of Florida. Using the Search API, I run the following statement: http://api.amp.active.com/search?k=&f=activities&v=xml&l=FL,+US&s=date_asc&m=meta:startDate:daterange:2012-01-28..2012-01-29+meta:channel=Running&api_key=wuhmn9ye94xn3xnteudxsavw (using the API Key listed in the documentation)
This should show me all the running events in the state of Florida from 1/28-1/29 of next year. A big 5k on the 28th is the Daytona 5k, but is is not listed in the API, but I find it on the active site here: http://www.active.com/5k-race/daytona-beach-fl/daytona-5k-and-fun-walk-2012
Is this an issue with the API? I feel all races should be listed from the API, this is just one example of an event that is missing. I have noticed this more than once. I need to make affiliate links for all races.

To get all Michigan running or triathlon events on July 14, 2012.
But, this event, the Waugoshance Trail Marathon, which is a trail race in Michigan on July 14, 2012 is not showing up in the API using the search-all option. http://www.active.com/marathon/carp-lake-mi/waugoshance-trail-marathon-2012?ltcmp=141770<clickid=12_29875001_9f883c9f-39f3-4bad-8725-8ee3f4233ce9&1=marathon&2=carp-lake-mi&3=waugoshance-trail-marathon-2012&cmp=10-2
